Serving Our Community Together: The Power of Volunteers and Community Impact

Serving your community does not have to mean making a huge commitment. Sometimes, it begins with a few hours, a helping hand, a donation, or simply sharing information with someone who needs support.

A strong community is built when people come together to care for one another.

At The Salvation Army – Surrey Ministries, we see this every day. Behind every meal served, family supported, and program offered is a community of people who choose to give their time, resources, skills, and compassion. Our work is not something we do alone—it is something we do together.

Every Helping Hand Makes a Difference

Volunteers are an important part of our ministry. Some serve regularly, while others give their time when they can. Some help sort and organize donations, assist with food distribution, welcome people at the front desk, or support special events. Others contribute their skills in ways that may happen quietly behind the scenes.

Whatever the role, every volunteer helps create a welcoming place where people feel seen, respected, and cared for.

In 2025, more than 330 volunteers generously contributed over 2350 volunteer hours to Surrey Ministries. These numbers represent more than hours—they represent people choosing to invest in their neighbours and their community.
