A Summer of Discovery, Nature, and Community
Last summer, children at The Salvation Army Surrey Ministries enjoyed eight weeks of learning, creativity, and adventure through our community Summer Program. Running from the end of June through late August 2025, the program was designed to provide children with meaningful experiences centred around food security, sustainability, environmental learning, and community connection.
Throughout the summer, children explored a variety of weekly themes that encouraged curiosity and hands-on discovery. From science activities and nature exploration to learning about food systems, insects, wildlife, and environmental stewardship, each week helped children better understand the world around them while building confidence and friendships along the way.

The Summer Program also balanced learning with recreation and social connection. Children enjoyed outdoor playtime at neighbourhood parks, interactive group activities, and special events throughout the summer. Weekly yoga and dance classes encouraged movement and wellness, while memorable activities such as community guest visits, hands-on cooking classes, and quality screen-free learning created opportunities for creativity and teamwork.
